Employment Law for Medical Practices: Wednesday,
February 27th; 5:30 – 8:00 p.m at MCMS. Our speakers will address the
fundamentals of employment law for medical practices, and recent changes
in state and/or federal law which govern hiring, termination, records
retention, etc. In addition, our speakers will discuss background checks
and drug testing, I-9 requirements, non-compete, non-solicitation,
confidentiality agreements, and best practices in the management of
personnel. Speakers: Darla McClure, JD, and Karen Shapiro, JD, Stein,

Tuesday, February 26th Practice Administrative Staff Lunch
Meeting: If you are a practice administrator, billing manager
or office manager, put Tuesday, February 26th on your calendar for
the MCMS Practice Administrative Staff Lunch at noon. Jama Allers,
MedChi Practice Consultant will be speaking on Physician Tiering/Rating
Programs being implemented by Medicare, United and BCBS. Details about
this meeting will be coming soon. (Note: The practice administrative
staff meetings will be Tuesday, March 25th at 8:00 a.m.; Tuesday, April
22nd at noon; and tentatively Tuesday, May 27th at 8:00 a.m. (unless
changed due to Memorial Day)) If you are not a member of the practice

MCMS House Call to Annapolis: Join us on Wednesday,
March 5th, as we go to Annapolis to meet with Montgomery County legislators
about Medicine's issues and concerns, and current bills they are considering
which impact you and your practice. We will be taking a bus, so if

Tuesday, March 18th MCMS Trade Show at University of Maryland
